“One Battle After Another” is Paul Thomas Anderson’s tenth film. Has anyone checked on Tarantino?

It strikes me that, if one of your goals were to do away with the “Superman as Christ” metaphor, this would be a good way to do it.

Hindsight is 20/20, but if they had marketed these Mission Impossible movies as “Tom Cruise tries to prevent Skynet from taking over the world,” which is largely what “The Final Reckoning” is, they probably could have got more people to turn up for the last one.

I can’t believe that it took someone almost 30 years to think to themselves “we should just make ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ again, only good all the way through this time,” but here we are.

“Sinners” is great because it’s one of those rare movies that answers the question “what if someone with the talent to write and direct a prestige drama grew up loving the same dopey shit that I did?”

Roberta Flack died. Has anyone checked on these guys?

Boy, if Andy Kaufman really did fake his death and plans to return one day, he really missed his window didn’t he.

We definitely have enough Jack Ryans for our own "Jack Ryan: No Way Home" at this point.

Watched "The Sum of All Fears" last night for the first time in years for no particular reason. It's definitely better than you remember, or at least better than you assume it will be.

Apart from whatever I end up watching in the next 36 hours, this was my 2024 Year in Film. letterboxd.com/SteveLilley/...

My longstanding theory that the world went to hell when Garry Shandling died on the same day Batman v Superman came out, in hindsight, would not do me any favors.
If you were a world famous assassin whose name and social media just got revealed, what take of yours would people find to declare you ideologically incoherent?

ComicPop is quickly becoming my new favorite YouTube channel, even though they make me relive things like Clayface and Lady Clayface having a Baby Clayface.
Grab the Wi-Fi password and hide in the guest room or the garage this year and watch this extra long episode of Back Issues! youtu.be/Ost8KncNDIs

Having just read “Superman/Doomsday: Hunter Prey” like a week ago for the first time in decades, I feel like the current Superman run is just for me

If Marvel and DC do crossovers again, I want a scene where Superman tells Daredevil that he doesn’t have to be so hard on himself all the time.

Hickman’s “Ultimate Spider-man” continues to be the best book being put out by Marvel or DC each month.

This is, no joke, maybe the one good thing to come out of “Knightquest: The Crusade” so far. Written by Peter David, the Penguin essentially gets himself captured because he doesn’t like AzBats either and is kind of lost without the real Batman, so he’d rather screw with Gordon instead.

“Casa Bonita Mi Amor” is a great look at what it’s like to be a creative person who gets obsessed over just the dumbest shit.

Here’s the thing - canonically, is Hannibal Lecter even dead?

Jean Paul Valley let a villain get away because he had to *save a school bus filled with children* and he’s legitimately whiny about it for several issues. Gee, I wonder why nobody loved him as Batman.

I watched “Her” this weekend for the first time since theaters. The only thing I get hung up on is that Joaquin Phoenix’s job of “writing deeply personal and intimate letters for people so they don’t have to” is like the first thing that would have been automated out of existence through AI.

Several years ago, in my free time, I started reading all the post-CRISIS Batman and Superman books in publishing order. *All of them.* I’m up to 1994. AMA
