I was hesitant to watch the series version of "What We Do in the Shadows" because I loved the movie so much. But it's excellent!
The Collin Robinson character is genius. He's an energy vampire who feeds off of people's boredom and frustration. Here he is feasting at a city council meeting:

Like most things in vision: salience ~ size * luminance contrast
(The image is also manipulating font-weight (bold) and character spacing, which contribute to size and contrast in less clear ways.)
When size and contrast aren't correlated, it gets interesting...

Great editorial! Minor correction though:
"our introduced change stops short of making data and code sharing mandatory in line with the TOP Level 3 standards"
The current policy stops short of TOP Level *2* standards.

One of the challenges to trusting polls is that there are more scam messages than actual pollster messages.

This is the most French thing ever. Paris is banning car traffic from a large region of the city... but look at all the exceptions! So basically, it's the same as before but now with a fuckton of bureaucracy and vague arbitrary enforcement.

What are the "brown M&Ms" of bad science?
What are some signs that aren't inherently problematic, but they're associated with carelessness, sloppiness, or poor reasoning and indicate that more careful scrutiny may be warranted?
