Brian Glanville.

The maestro of his craft. A fierce critic, fantastic wordsmith, and a true original. Sitting next to him in the press box, it was a marvel how he picked up the phone at the end of the game, with barely a note, and dictated perfect prose off the cuff.

An eternal bravo. Rest well.

Our Prime Minister spent yesterday bantering with Trump without extracting a single concession out of him. He even extended an invitation from the King to come visit. Immediately trumpeted as some sort of wondrous diplomatic triumph by the lobby

We absolutely shouldn’t be doing this. Where we have stability we should not be meddling. There’s enough going on upfront
I understand the concern about Calafiori being up against Elanga, but I really don't think there's much chance he starts wednesday. I just assume Timber will play LB and white will return to the lineup.

Arsenal can have complaints about the penalty but not about the result. They never got hold of the game in the second half. Liverpool's brilliance has demanded excellence of their challengers and #AFC are falling short of that. (And yes, injuries/illness are hurting them badly)

Hoarse from my constant pleas to keep Timber firmly at RB
— Has Arteta created a system that is too fb-driven, with an unrealistic ask placed upon them?
— There is no tension between ‘Cala LB/Timber RB may add just enough dynamism to start really improving goal hauls’ and ‘Arsenal are short on dynamic attackers’
— Timber LB is an inherently defensive move

If there is an upside from this game it makes clear where Arsenal need to prioritise in January. A versatile attacking talent is a must. Kudus from West Ham would be my hunch

Great insight
Especially in the Premier League, problems thought to be about "physicality" are often about “speed of first action." First touches have to be dripping with intent.

You know who else gets eaten up if they don’t act fast? Pretty much everybody.

Watching Mbappé trying to 'track back', as he is trying to do now, is painful. He has no idea of how to do it. He never had to.

Must say I like the look of the likely Arsenal starting XI today. Rice at 6, Timber at RB, Califiori at LB, Merino at Left 8, Kai at 9 Think we can dominate most games with that line up
