I was thinking about how ~90% of people think they're better than average at driving, which is impossible by definition

So I wondered, do I think I'm better? No, I don't. But that worries me and makes driving unpleasant

Is over-confidence is essentially unconscious self-soothing, to mitigate fear?

Young people banging off insanely catchy tracks on like one paycheque-worth of electronics is kind of insane and makes me feel like an incompetent dork

Can some sunflower stars resist disease? Hakai researchers, with DFO, are testing stars from Calvert Island for Vibrio pectenicida resistance and how warmer waters affect infection. A step toward protecting these vital marine predators!

Food insecurity is ALWAYS a political choice. Famine is ALWAYS manmade. People go hungry because of other people’s decisions. We have more than enough food for everyone, and enormous amounts of it are wasted—literally thrown in the garbage—on purpose.

I've switched to Android after using iOS for around 13 years. iOS is getting worse and Android gets some stuff very right, but...

What the hell is with there being no dictionary? This is something I use almost daily, and iOS has one baked in. It's great. Android offerings are so awful

I used to make applications with Backbone, and this sense has been lingering the entire time. We're not really doing everything that much better, and my coworkers are more confused than ever.

I've been full-time in @zed.dev for something like 4 months steadily now. I'd used it on and off for a long time, but something changed and suddenly it has met all of my needs for a while. It's a joy to use

I can't stand this ambiguous rhetoric. Where is the wasteful spending? What motivated this austerity? Why aren't you willing to invest in making this spending more productive? Show us data and clear intentions, Liberals. What a disappointment.
To build the Canada we want for ourselves, we have to make responsible choices and bet big on Canadians.

We’re going to cut waste and spend less on government operations — so we can make the big investments that will grow our economy and create new opportunities for Canadians.

No mask, no weapons, no protection; she's 100x the 'man' any of these ICE agents could ever dream of being
there she is, the woman in the blue polka dot dress, putting herself between that criminal cop/fed and someone he's menacing, she's in other vid/pics of today's NYC flipping double barrels at a police tank - I love her

I missed that Fastmail released desktop apps: www.fastmail.com/blog/desktop...

At first I didn't get it, but 30m later I'm actually pretty happy with it.

I'd love a system-wide shortcut to start composing an email. Maybe workable through raycast?

I got resounding support from our founder at work for a project I conceived and have already built into a prototype with virtually no oversight. I'm going to rate the experience is an 11/10 for relief after months of wondering if I know what the hell I'm doing

My kids were talking about how their friends have no idea what anyone's phone number is and how they all thought it was insane that my kids remember phone numbers.

I got thinking... What do these kids remember now? What exercises their brains, if even mundane things are managed by their phones now?

Very sad to see Arduino acquired by Qualcom. I suspect it's the end of that era, and I don't like ESP or other alternatives. I'm not sure what Arduino could have done differently, but the writing has been on the wall for quite some time

Apple has gotten so bad at software that they released a version of TV (macOS) that doesn't allow you to search. You can click search, but... There's no search field. It just opens a view that says "Browse". You can navigate in this view, but not search in it. Clicking search does nothing from here
