Situation on 14th St and W St. NW, with federal agents -- no specific agency identified -- pulling cars over for checks. They arrested a Black woman in this car.

BIG crowd of people shouting at police.

"Fuck you!"

"What is wrong with you!"

"You don't need to terrorize people like this!"

I am congenitally resistant to conspiracy thinking, but this really does feel like a eugenic plot. There is some dark, pseudo-Darwinian thinking on the right that equates illness with moral unfitness, and prefers that the weak die, indeed demands that they be culled. Truly a death cult.

A philosopher recently told me that this exact quote was used when CEU was kicked out of Hungary. She told me this months ago, saying that what's unfolding in the US is eerily similar to the path Hungary has taken. Next, "the sciences will start blaming the humanities, causing a rift in academia"
In which a Yale prof calls for jettisoning humanities to make way for science-only universities.

“scientists… are being punished for the sins of [humanities scholars] because we all live under one roof. I cannot see a compelling reason for our continued cohabitation.”
Unyoke the Sciences From the Humanities

On Xitter, Newsom is talking abt 3.4M who could lose Medicaid.

Is there any reason CA (and all Dem states) couldn’t send those people notice that Trump is going to cut it?

Just a few words of Noam Chomsky responding to Bill Moyers I believe in 1988 in a PBS interview.

Bill Moyers was the epitome of a truth seeker. In an era when it’s political to say facts matter, Bill cut through that & told the stories no one else was telling. Meeting him as a young organizer was one of the honors of my life. The world needs more Bill Moyers & I am grateful for the life he led.

If the Supreme Court thinks universal injunctions are unconstitutional, to wait until *now* to say that, in this of all cases, with this of all presidents, is a devastating indictment of both its impartiality and its prudence.

Miami just canceled its November election & pushed it to 2026. No public vote, just canceled.

Mayor Suarez & Joe Carollo get to stick around an extra year.

This feels like a power grab. If one city can delay elections for “participation,” what’s to stop others from doing it to silence opposition?
