It’s a bit like being passionately devoted to ‘fairness’ in elite women’s sport despite never caring about it unless a trans woman is succeeding. They don’t care, they never did. It’s an opportunity to punch down.

And here was me thinking the justice system was supposed to be at least partly about rehabilitation. And that torture didn’t come into it. Because that’s what it is.
