/2 The tail is an important part of the cat’s spine, and with lots of nerve endings that provide crucial input and control of lots of muscles in the hind end, particularly the ones that control bowel moments and urination. In injuries like his, nerve function can be damaged. 🪡

/3 He can pee but we don’t know yet if he can poop. Because of the complex nature of this injury, he needs to see a specialist surgeon. We’re going to explore a couple options in our area & choose the one we feel will give him the best chance at good recovery & nerve function. 🪡

/4 We don’t yet have a consult (phone calls to be made tomorrow), but just his initial vet work up today was $420 to get him started with x-rays, antibiotics and pain relief. We anticipate this will not be a cheap endeavor, but he is worth it.
