Macross 7 Plus (7/10)
Must Watch (4-6,8-10), Ok (1,3,11), MVs (2,7,12)

Some of these we straight-up needed in the show (4,5,8), but here's one you can enjoy spoiler free.

HH S1 (6/10) + S2 (2/10) = 4/10

Ironic considering the professional singing, but this series is ridiculously tone deaf. Except this time the only memorable song is for a character that doesn't do jack shit.

Pentious was the only bright spot.

It’s funny though how the majority agree on the weakest (Sasaki Stopped a Bullet) when that’s Fujimoto’s favorite among the first 4. 😅
November 22, 2025 at 10:48 PM
However sometimes what’s written on the page is so striking even a mid-adaptation ends up being my 4th favorite (Nayuta). Meanwhile one of his weaker shorts (Love is Blind) is given such flair that it beat a story I overall preferred (Mermaid Rhapsody).
November 22, 2025 at 10:47 PM
Undoubtedly these 4 (Sisters, Woke-Up-as-a-Girl, Clucking Chickens, Shikaku) were the fan favorites, as they approached already strong premises with the sense of craft you’d expect from seasoned professionals. Each took the spark Fujimoto planted and followed a creative vision.

Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 (9.5/10)

8 > 6 > 1 > 7 > 4 > 3 > 5 > 2

Tatsuki Fujimoto has an Uncanny ability to inspire people’s inner creative side. The weakest of these do feel like simply retelling rough drafts, but the best of these elevate interesting concepts into cinema.

Macross 7: The Galaxy is Calling Me (7.5/10)

This has the Giant Green Haired Baddie, so it’s a must-watch by default. Also Basara's better with kids than Mylene. 😅

Grading this as a short film, but it’d honestly be among my favorite eps of the show.

It hurts for me to say I felt nothing seeing cuts as pretty as this, but it didn't help that the theming and overall music in this was so much weaker than the show.

Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club The Movie – Finale Pt 1 (2024) (1/10)

This is the first time in years I sat down for an hr and felt like I watched nothing. Digitizing their concert domain expansions took the magic away from my favorite Love Live concert style.

Ranma 1/2 Nihao My Concubine (1992) (5/10)

There's really only two reasons to watch this otherwise nothingburger beach ep turned rescue mission. Gotta say that evil prince has taste in dresses, cause GYAT DAMN!

Halfway into Hazbin Hotel S2, and ngl hell is boring now compared to heaven.

I do have to give Shinji Somai props on his oners though, specifically by how restrained they are. He has an uncanny talent in knowing exactly where to just leave the camera rolling. Minutes can pass without any fancy trickery, letting the actors and set do the talking.

Typhoon Club (1985) (6/10)

Has some of the best long takes I’ve seen, yet it struggles to connect them together in a cohesive manner. I dug the atmosphere and sense of aimlessness when it came to these kids stuck at school, but sometimes it feels like deleted scenes got left in.
November 12, 2025 at 6:52 AM
That said, HOLY SHIT was this a good choice to end on. Whereas Vol. 1 had more of a contest on what you’d rank as your favorite, saving the best for last is valid when you’ve got something that shouldn’t even be possible in such a major franchise.
November 12, 2025 at 2:19 AM
Some of these get a cool character design, but how they implement the Star Wars elements into their stories either feel half-baked, stretched-out, or in the case of Ninth Jedi deliberately held back to save room for the full series it’s getting.

Star Wars Visions Vol. 3 (7/10)

BLACK is a masterpiece, and The Lost One’s is a good follow-up. But apart from these other two at the bottom, the focus on droids and sequel bait feels hollow compared to Vol. 1s take on the Sith Jedi Binary.

That said, my favorite ending might actually be the Fox's Wedding aka the Bad End. While it does surrender Hinako to the whims of her husband much like her mother, that sense of compromise is something I can see hitting close to home.

This convo hits hard too.
November 11, 2025 at 7:00 AM
The true ending definitely gave the most closure, particularly regarding Hinako's family trauma and the fox prince's role in this story. The Shu route did feel like the most cop-out ending next to the 1st route, so I appreciate the toughest ending to get actually addressed this.

Silent Hill F (9/10)

Wish the replays diverged more drastically, but it shows how invested I was to get all 5 endings.

The way Ryukishi07 centered the horror on wedding blues, religious rites, and maternal trauma is something I'm gonna remember more than the tiresome combat.

Nobody (Lang Lang Shan Xiao Yaoguai) (7/10)

What if the mooks in Monkey King's adventure had their own chance at enlightenment?

There's definitely cutlural context I missed, but it was a cute little flick that ended on a surprisingly bittersweet note.

At first I thought maybe it was just animation as a whole, and gaming definitely still had big releases (shout-out to Animal Crossing).

But aside from Blood of Zeus, the cartoons I saw trending at the time were mainly S2s to these series. 2021 was when new fandoms spawned.
