In just three months in office, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has produced a run of chaos that is unmatched in the Pentagon's recent history. His inner circle — military veterans who, like him, had little experience running large, complex organizations — is in shambles.

Kilmar Ábrego García was deported because he wore a Bulls hat and a graphic hoodie. That’s all the evidence that was used to classify him as a member of MS-13.

Thinking about how I have the same number of Oscars as Timothee Chalamet

Choosing Lacrimosa for the In Memoriam song at the Oscars was a choice. Felt like they were implying the audience was complicit in sending them all to the grave.

Can I sue the government for banning my supplemental income? Asking for a friend…
Breaking news: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to block a federal law that would effectively ban TikTok in the United States as early as this weekend if the wildly popular video-sharing app does not divest from Chinese ownership.
Supreme Court upholds TikTok ban-or-sale law
Donald Trump had asked the Supreme Court to delay TikTok’s ban-or-sale law to give him an opportunity to act once he returns to the White House.

I had over 60,000 followers and a steady supplemental income from TikTok that helped ease the financial burdens we’ve felt thanks to inflation, shrinkflation, and the rising cost of living. The government took away that income and there is nothing I can do about it. They don’t care about us.

When I see “that no one else is talking about” at the end of a title for a video or article, I am almost always immediately sure that someone else IS talking about it and the creator/writer stole their idea.

Had entire conversation with all my old college roommates about how affordable and good looking the button-up shirts at Costco are.

Is this what growing older looks like?

Indie authors, how do you measure if your book release was a success?

I made a goal to sell 1,000 copies of my self-published book this year. Based on the cover, how close do you think I got to my goal?

Every single publisher I sent this to in September rejected it.

Now it stands like a prophetic satire of this past week’s headlines.

Absurdity and dark humor are all I have left to cope with the reality I am forced to face every single day.

In Praise of School Shootings
I wrote this earlier this year in September after a tragic school shooting whose details I’ve already forgotten. I sent it to various magazines and papers, but nobody wanted it. So it sat in …

A year ago I released a book of short stories.

Two of them were about school shootings.

I wrote them because I taught public school for seven years, and the thought of one happening loomed over me near constantly.

No fictional character is done more dirty than Scrooge. The guy completely redeemed himself and became the best at keeping Christmas, and yet we still use his name to represent someone selfish, self-centered, ignorant, and mirthless.
