PS I've just seen a Guardian piece on possible Davie replacements. If this is a plot, did they have a replacement in mind?

Preventing the disclosure of information received in confidence;

Maintaining the authority and impartiality of the judiciary.

Could be an uphill battle although some categories might stretch to fit.

Under ECHR Article 10(2) restrictions must be for:

National security, territorial integrity, or public safety;

Prevention of disorder or crime;

Protection of health or morals;

Protection of the reputation or rights of others (e.g., privacy, defamation);

In a wider sense I don't think any of this has come about by accident. It stinks of a well planned plot. Part of it could well be to embroil the govt. A cautious approach seems sensible.

No 10: "Our position is clear: The BBC is independent and it's for the corporation to respond to questions about their editorial decisions and, more broadly, we have a close relationship with the US on shared priorities, including security."

Understandable given the efforts to limit Trump damage.

perhaps Fagash should show his appreciation for the platforming?

apparently, not in Florida

I'm sure he'd take the opportunity if the contract was paid up but the optics of his departure would play well with our unbiased media: "Starmer gets rid of Board Chair to influence the media".

Messing with the media is probably seen as a big nono by number 10; whatever they do, they lose.

His contract is up May '28

They don't want to destroy it, they want to control it. The underlying theme is left wing bias therefore right wing replacements will seem appropriate.

Whoever is selected to take over the roles will tell you whether destroy or control is preferred.

The Drax (bank financed) buyout was supported as a primary source by the tories while labour have downgraded it to a back up source. Some relevant details here:

bsky.app/profile/warr...
This is clearly very disappointing and there are urgent answers needed from the owners of Drax.

The big point to remember though, is that the Labour government are downgrading the Drax biofuel plant from a primary energy provider to a backup source for when renewal sources are insufficient.

Its all a bit too neat.

"Lets employ a new DG while Robbie Gibb chairs the BBC Board. Bound to work if he goes for left wing bias."

Who will be the replacements? Can't be left wingers because...

RG's contract ends in May '28

I've no problem with AC (apart from BFC 😁). I googled Prescott and what I saw doesn't remotely shout 'left'.

The right clearly value control of the media and they realise its hard to attack, see Article 10 of the ECHR. I'd prefer the left to bother about causes rather than symptoms.

All of the issues he cites (at length) are generally right talking points but there's not one mention of "Farage".

If I were a conspiracy theorist...

Looks at Politics Live to see what SKS says. Oh, its all "Farage says..."

*all - its actually 8 out of 13 timeline points
