Truly sorry to the suburbs but I’d love to see this thing shuttle Atlantans around Atlanta better

Now let’s see the extra point

People have asked how they could help in the lead up to the election and the answer is: please join me in doing what you can to make sure our neighbors don’t go hungry

I have to say this is special to me. At my job I've been lucky to work for talented Black women attorneys who advance racial equity and shown me how I can better listen to the needs of communities as we put forward a vision of public education that refuses to believe that separate will ever be equal

So you have a city (Remerton) being zoned for Lowndes County Public Schools despite being surrounded by Valdosta City Schools, which is itself surrounded by Lowndes County Schools.

Valdosta has its own school system, which for some reason does not include Remerton. Valdosta City Schools is also completely surrounded by Lowndes County Schools. Look at the enrollment zone for Westside Elementary school. Remerton is that tiny section to the east.

This small city is in Lowndes County, and is zoned for Lowndes County Public Schools, makes sense right? What spoils this story is the fact that Remerton is very close to Valdosta--as in, surrounded. In the map below Remerton is red and Valdosta is gray.

I wanna tell y'all about a city that has been on my mind for a minute: Remerton, GA. Remerton is in south Georgia and has been a city since 2000, It has a current population of around 1,300 people. Remerton is fascinating to me because it shows just how ridiculous school district lines can be.

Someone asked what I would do about the whitewashing of American history if elected. This video is my response. Go vote y’all

I got this text last night after a school board candidate debate and it’s the raddest thing. What an honor to earn someone’s trust, if even just for a vote

Put me firmly in the “yes APS has a lot of money but the needs of our students are enormous” camp. If you wanna help hold our school board accountable to supplying all students with what they need, sign up to help canvass here: linktr.ee/owensforaps?...

the way that I almost spit out my drink.

It's a way to report lost dogs, people. I'm still not happy with the over-surveillance of Atlanta but in this instance we're the big brother to dogs, so it's a cute type of overreach.

I was honored to spend Friday afternoon playing bingo with the people in Abernathy Towers (elder care facility) as a part of my campaign. When I was getting ready I asked the property manager what prizes I should get and she told me that everyone needs basic necessities like soap and deodorant.

Good summary by AJC here of a candidate that has no path in the Republican primary to unseating a popular incumbent.

I’ve decided that of all the reaction shots this is My Guy. This is your dad’s friend who buys you a drink when he sees you in Knoxville. Always good for a dirty joke. He refs high school ball. He’s disappointed, sure, more than you could know. But you’re just a kid. Chin up, we’ll need you in OT.

If you live in Atlanta City Council districts 3 (Amos) or 4 (Dozier) then I am running to be your school board candidate. Stop by this Saturday and let’s talk!

I was never a good runner but this song always got me pumped and I am running a better campaign than I ran 5ks in 1999 so I’m listening to Cake
