Passionate public education advocate--but not an acolyte. Atlantan. Dawg fan.
Kindness? Midwest coded imo. Another point for “secret OSU fan”

Finally I want to say thank you for anyone who helped this effort. Either by word of mouth, text, donation, or simply putting your trust in me to represent this city. Thank you thank you thank you. Atlanta, I love you.

I am once again thinking about the advocacy landscape in Atlanta for folks that want more than just school choice. I’m not against charters I just want equity at the center and would love for a group or coalition that speaks for all families to hold the board accountable

I’m also thinking today of the people who went before me who fought in Atlanta for those who are often ignored. There are women like Ethel Mae Mathews or Davida Huntley who lost their races as well but that didn’t invalidate their work or worth in the southwest part of the city

Speaking of family, my kids have been active participants in this campaign and I loved having them with me. Particular praise is due to my six year old daughter who loved going to events and handing out flyers and took the news the hardest this morning

Truly sorry to the suburbs but I’d love to see this thing shuttle Atlantans around Atlanta better

I want to see Bijan traded from the Falcons not because he's not great (he's amazing) but because he's great and he deserves better. I was born into this--I have to be a Falcons fan. Let that young man go

You're a billionaire who wants to improve education? Pay taxes, spend advocating for decoupling public ed from property taxes, and give lots of money to make sure that children aren't hungry. You'll do a lot more good than founding another scam school trying to union bust.

I don't know why Remerton & Valdosta are split, but I'm not surprised that people treat it as normal. The story of these little islands is as old as public education. Keeping kids separate only serves the interests of those who would rather see public schools fail regardless. It will remain unequal.

A history, I would add, that included folks only too willing to separate people by race. If you hadn't guessed, Valdosta and Lowndes look VERY different in the schools. Valdosta is 78% Black and Lowndes is 23%. 45% of the students in Valdosta are living in poverty compared to half that in Lowndes.
