This is about the story of Brandon Fleury, an autistic man who did some terrible things, and in the process the criminal justice system and the media failed both him and society.

Special thanks to Stephanie Clifford whose work spurred me to action.

Autism and Criminal Justice Are Not Being Served Well by the Media
Today I came across an article on The Economist written by Stephanie Clifford which I found to be both exceptional and profound. It details the story of Brandon Fleury, an autistic man in his early 20...

Checked Twitter a moment ago and saw it was down. Thought to myself: "Where do people go to talk about Twitter being down?"

Then I came here of course!

I'm in the middle of fantasy football research though and that community doesn't exist here unfortunately. Bad timing!

Rep. David Boyer in Maine sounds like an interesting legislator.

I skimmed a list of bills he has sponsored and co-sponsored and it was promising as well.

The absolute certainty some exhibit about any number of things can be terrifying to behold. There can be great danger in this, leading to a refusal to consider any potential fallibility, an inflexibility in consideration for other perspectives, and an inability to accept how little we truly know.

A negroni, or whatever your poison happens to be.

I'm more partial to an old fashion. Everyone makes them differently and that's one of the great things about ordering them.

Go enjoy life, drink it in, even the parts which don't go down smooth.

A few gaffes are understandable but there is a history of Biden saying things which make you wonder about the status of his mental state. He is 80, and cognitive decline begins around 70.

In this instance when asked about Putin, Biden says he is clearly losing the war in Iraq.

Younger. Candidates.
Biden says Putin is losing 'war in Iraq' -- not Ukraine -- in latest gaffe

Donald Trump kept everyone constantly talking about him, leading to an immense amount of free coverage, regardless of it being negative or positive. He went on to become president in part because of this coverage.

RFK Jr. is getting the same treatment.

Horrific case in Chicago, in which prosecutors sat on evidence that someone arrested at age 28 hadn't committed the murder ... and then made him spend the next 12 years rotting away in PRETRIAL DETENTION in Cook County. Nearly half his life he'll never get back.

Border Patrol agents killed Raymond Mattia in a hail of gunfire last month outside his home on the Tohono O’odham Nation.

Recently released body camera footage confirmed that what the authorities thought was a gun was in fact Mattia’s cellphone.

Raymond Mattia’s family said the partial release of body camera footage “feels like a cheap attempt to justify what they did.”

This is surprising but welcome news.

Psychedelic therapy holds much potential for helping people with trauma, and it's possible it could help patients re-learn motor functions after serious injuries.

There's also the criminal justice aspect where we should not be jailing people for psychedelics.

Depends on what I'm in the mood for and what I'm eating it with, but my top three are waffle, curly, and wedge.

Let's be real though, fried potatoes in general are awesome!

This is your reminder that if you own a gun for self-defense and haven't fired it in the last 90 days, it's time to head to the range. Keep it clean as well, maintenance is essential. Being familiar with your firearm is key to helping ensure your safety.

Be a responsible gun owner.

"Hey, we blew you off several times and since we have no update for your request for public information, we're going to cancel your request."

If that ain't standard government mentality and service, I don't know what better exemplifies it.

Requesting public information can be infuriating at times.

Saw this and thought it was fake, turns out it's real. For anyone who doesn't know their Roman history, Sulla seized power near the late stages of the Roman republic, and essentially acted as a dictator who oversaw mass killings of political opponents to help reinforce the aristocracy.
Not good that our economic elite are reactionaries. maybe we shouldn't' treat large concentrations of wealth as primarily an economic question.

Who needs a warrant when private entities will hand over our information for a bit of cash? Of course, if people don't know about it, then they won't care.
