The tariff justification that relies on the simplistic understanding of trade imbalances is spurious. There is an imbalance favouring the USA for services that is not factored into official statistics.

LIBERALS: • Build 500K homes/year • Create a public homebuilder • Support prefab/green tech • Convert empty buildings into rentals Goal: lots of supply, built fast and sustainably. ⸻ CONSERVATIVES: • Force cities to build or lose federal $$ • Sell off federal buildings for housing • Slash red tape to speed up builds Goal: more market housing, less bureaucracy. ⸻ NDP: • 500K+ affordable homes • Rent-controlled units on public land • Stop renovictions & unfair rent hikes Goal: protect renters + expand deeply affordable housing.
