Sadly, this never goes out of fashion. Just wish I had a Tshirt of this image from the 1980’s. I managed to get it into evidence in the Employment Court during the Bartlett and E Tu v Terranova case by submitting a research paper which featured the image on its cover.

Rarotonga for a yoga retreat has been such a brilliant de-stressor. I’m so grateful to be able to come here. Namaste.

Today would have been our mum Anne’s 80th birthday. She was smart, funny, feisty and courageous. She was a feminist and championed human rights way before it was trendy. She made us believe we could do amazing things even though there was no money. I miss her every day.

I managed to walk carefully around the farmers’ market and had brunch at our fav Seriously Pickled. Yay. Gorgeous day too. I even wore a frock. The specialist said I only need to use a crutch or both if I really need them. Took one for balance and defensive weaponry purposes.

2 weeks post surgery the leg’s looking pretty good. Lot of the swelling and bruising are gone. Wound looks pretty clean. Using one crutch outside the house for safety and to take some pressure off. Stopped tramadol last night and so far so good. I’m calling a win for the prep. Massage balm 1/2

Happy Waitangi Day. A day of remembrance, celebration and protest. This land is my land; this land is your land. Our society is built on te Tiriti and pretending otherwise or trying to rewrite history only rips open old wounds and divisions. Don’t let them do this to us.

The garden is doing well: here’s the greenhouse: attack of the killer tomatoes and the cucumber that took over the world. So satisfying to see.

Oh kiddies… we had something quite similar to this. Party line. You cranked the handle for the rings in Morse code or the operator.

It’s beginning to feel a bit more like Christmas. Though we are both lamenting no longer having wee daughters running around getting over excited and us staying up late to sneak out to assemble a trampoline or a toy kitchen or whatever.

This came up on Facebook today. I’m struggling with grief for my mum this week and it made me cry but also feel comforted. Both feelings physically hurt.
