Be kind! As a gr 6 teacher I had to teach music to my class. I barely knew what the staff was but I did learn the notes bc I had to teach the kids. All I could manage was a recorder and an accompanying CD. Kids felt they were stars playing along with the CD. The music curriculum is insane!

Get rid of Ford and his buddies!

The very worst though is that the gov't is about to pay one man a lot of money to find out what is wrong. Teachers' unions have been telling us what is wrong and yet Ford has continued to fight teachers, strip the system of hands on educators, and push the idea of private schools.

Giving a student more time in a test or doing the test with assistive devices or with someone writing their answers for them does not make the test any more comprehensible to them nor does it allow them to show what they know. Every child has a strength and EQAO does not account for that.

Who set the standards for EQAO? Why does that make those standards the gold medal of achievement? For all of our knowledge about how individuals learn we are still asking them to complete a standardized test. The accommodations given do not account for different learning styles.

To pay someone an inordinate amount of money to figure out how to get everyone achieving level 3 and 4 is such an insult in so many ways. Ask educators why that is not a feasible/reasonable or even desirable goal. Put the money into smaller classes with more specialized help.

The job's no longer so gloreous, is it, Karoline? You have have to lie and divert and pretend all is well when it isn't in order to get that big paycheck. "I obviously wasn't in the room" is another stock answer of this gov't which deflects before the questions are even finished.

That's good bc Ford is using our tax money to pay off his buddies. None of it is going to make our lives better.

I think both can be useful for authors. What is important is that people are reading. If so, some books are bought and some are borrowed from the library.

Um, drink a glass of milk, and come sit by me.
In "real" life, libraries raise funds to buy multiple copies of authors' works. The authors are compensated through their publishers. Publishers know that a popular book in a library will boost sales of that book, and the library will order more.
