Through what they xall "step therapy". For example you need an mri for a knee. They want you to first try pt, injections, xrays. But the doctor knows you need an mri, because you actually need a knee replacement. Ins companies can no longer require this. If doc orders mri, ins com has to approve.

The doctors treating you are actually the ones who are suppose to appeal & fight with the insurance companies. Unfortunately, too many dont want to be bothered. Also check your state laws. I know here in illinois our great governor signed a law that ins companies can no longer require you to go 1/

Pls ignore what ever attached to my reply...they match you with an advocate. She was able to find a pallative care doc. Made a the phone calls. So then I was finally able to switch primary doc. Now she is working on my appeal on my cancer treatments.

If you are on Medicare, i found a patient advocate company called solace. They only take medicare patients which is covered. If u sont mind me asking, r u on Medicare? Solace has basixally saved my life. The advocate i am working with is an ice nurse. (You speak with a doc 1st & they match u 1/
