If nothing else, they need to understand that the headline is THE FREE PART THAT GETS SHARED WIDELY and orders of magnitude fewer people will go past the paywall to read the article

The Times adjusted it's headlines, but not until after other media started reporting the links as factual using the Times.

How comfortable should editors be with headlines that amplify the claims of an unverified claim, not subject to peer review, by a known vaccine skeptic?

If you told Americans that they can have low density but pay more taxes, most probably would not choose low density.

Americans also like lower taxes but a city cannot afford to provide high quality services to low density neighbourhoods with low taxes. If you want to keep taxes low and service quality high, you need more density!
