@marthawells.com I watched Murderbot this week and I loved it. The rare adaptation that retained the thematic heart of it's source material. can't wait for season 2!

Behold the beautiful coziness of my morning

Every Thursday I put together a presentation for the managers which is then shown at the all-hands meeting Friday morning. One of the main sections is a review of every customer issue that came up the preceding week.

Over on #bookthreads, Anne of Green Gables seems to be having a well-deserved moment. Which feels like the right time for me to talk about one of my favorite defunct genres of which Anne was a part, College Girl Literature.

Some trivia for you all today. This is the Atlas moth, one of the largest moths in the world (possibly the largest). They can have a wingspan of up to 27cm. They live in forests in Southern and Eastern Asia. They are absolutely harmless and super cool.

Under the U.S Constitution, the President is very explicitly not a king. The President's wishes and decrees do not magically become law.

Alright, I'm terribly late but it's time for final thoughts on Persuasion, which I finished reading weeks ago.

What these nihilistic vandals are doing to dismantle science & medicine—generations of expertise & public service & life improving benefits—is cultural revolution level national self harm. No foreign foe could inflict such brutal damage & senseless suffering on US so fast & effectively & unresisted.

I'm writing a silly story and sharing it as I write it which is also silly because it's such first draft writing. But ya girl craves external validation and therapy hasn't fixed that yet, so here we are.

@johngreensbluesky.bsky.social doesn't deserve to be carrying so much of my mental wellness on his poor anxious shoulders, but he does it anyway. I aspire to be like him.

Me, discussing my very poor showing on today's trivia questions: "...and then I put techno, like an idiot."

My friend: "Like an informed, decent, good, kind, intelligent, upstanding idiot."

Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky with my friends. Loving *and* funny? In this economy?!?!

I can honestly say I've never regretted spending money on art. That goes double for every picture I've ever commissioned of one of my pets, and triple for this absolutely perfect illustration from @hannahbstudios.bsky.social of my charismatic poltergeist, Vlad

I don't mean to brag but I just executed a cartoon-style, running in place, multi second slip on the ice, culminating in a moment of perfect horizontal orientation while suspended in mid air and a platonically ideal belly flop into the snow. Astoundingly, I am uninjured.

Been posting over on threads a lot, and it's nice because the algorithm seems pretty dang good at showing me to people who enjoy what I post. Once again struggling with the way blessing seems... Very isolated.

Because I'm deeply intimidated by the requirements to build a feed on blue sky, mine currently consists of the Green brothers, an account that shares images of space, and @bodegacats.bsky.social
Honestly I may just leave it like this forever

I wonder if there is something wrong with my ears, given the way they fold in half every time I lay my head down? No matter how I position my it, or what level of care I use in adjusting it on my pillow, I cannot prevent the folding. I have to manually unfold them Every. Single. Time.

So...... Is it absolutely necessary to add "blue sky social" to everyone's username? Feels a bit needy to me.

Just watched @hankgreen.bsky.social 's video about how #bluesky is better than #Twitter and #Threads and it convinced me to finally give BS (heh) a try. Except I don't understand it at all. Will some please explain it to me like you would to your nana?
