I am almost 40, and in a very stable place. I was sexually assaulted when I was 26. When NYS changed statue of limitation laws, I wanted to go after the guy who did it when I was 36. I couldn't bring myself to do it. I was too fucking scared of losing everything. It's SO fucking hard, man.

Reminder -- this guy was 63 years old at this point. It never fucking ends for men. They never grow out of it. It's who they are their entire lives.

I think about how many women in the world -- myself included -- have kept men's secrets for them about the harassment and abuse and assaults we've endured from them out of fear of retribution. It's fucking devastating.

Okay this is going to sound weird because I'm an adult with no kids ha BUT I love YA (and am always looking to adapt for TV/film). I just DLed an audiobook called The Book of Secrets by Alex Dunne. It's fantastic and I know my 8-13 year old self would have LOVED. Main character is 11.
