My first time seeing pilot whales! I was also hoping to see an oceanic white tip, as they follow these whales to get food scraps. However, I couldn’t have been happier. Pilot whales and many other Pelagic ocean creatures can be found off the Island of Hawaii because of the volcanic activity.

If you are fatigued by the political situation, go outside tonight and listen to the symphony of frog voices finding their partners! One of my favorite times of the year — counting & looking for amphibian egg masses. ❤️ 🐸 ❤️

So many!!!!! One of my favorite parts visiting Westport in Washington (besides the grey whales & pelicans 😃) is when the sea lions decide to hang out for awhile on the docks. I can watch them all day interacting & speaking their minds.

Cool! Octopuses are my second animal obsession next to elephants. They are so fascinating. Here is one of the baby giant pacific octopuses we found this summer doing beach “patrol.” So small, we weren’t sure if he was a GPO or red octopus.
