My retirement funds are stored in long boxes
Very excited to see where Stephanie Phillips takes Daredevil next year. I’ve really enjoyed Phoenix and lately her Spider-Gwen books.

Headed for Saturday night.

It is with great pleasure that I say that - for the first time in at least a couple years - I really like what Amazing Spider-Man is doing under Joe Kelly. Feels like the book is finally letting loose a little bit after stagnating for years.

Swedish Finding Nemo is a fun one

Hard to choose, but also I leaned so heavily towards playing Halo 2 / 3 online in high school that I missed a lot of great games.

I prefer the keyboard and interface on the NYT Games app

Damn, and just when I was finally paring down my pull list as a bunch of the first From The Ashes limited runs were ending. Will have to see who the writers are on each, but give me Iron & Frost and Laura Kinney Sabretooth all day long. A lot of the right side intrigues me, actually.

Tromso was incredible, I went in January last year and loved it

Lastly, and similar to Camp’s Ultimates run, Absolute Superman by Saladin Ahmed shows Kal-El as an immigrant in a world that exploits and abhors them - relevant and fresh and a captivating new take on this character. My favourite series of the Absolute line so far.

But he’s not done! On the other side of the shelf, Camp’s first issue of Absolute Martian Manhunter was a trip - this is the example I’ll point to when showing how comic books can do what movies can’t for these kinds of stories. Ends on the best visual gimmick I’ve seen in a while - a must-read.

Deniz Camp continues to do it. His latest issue of Ultimates is a told as an Epic poem of Thor and Sif rallying a resistance to Loki’s fascist rule of the nine realms. For the usual standards of Marvel’s political stance, this feels particularly strong - this Ultimates run has had something to say.

Daily @ryannorth.ca appreciation post: his run on Fantastic Four continues to be a masterclass. The latest issue shows Ben Grimm grappling with finally being cured of his Thing-ness. I really hope North was in the writer’s room for the movie, because he just *gets* these characters.

Spider-Man (616) books have been hit or miss for years, so hope springs eternal whenever a new creative team comes on board. Joe Kelly puts Peter where he’s most effective - unlucky, broke, and self-sacrificing. A reveal of a new Big Bad at the end feels gratuitous, but I’ll keep reading.

Absolute Batman continues to rock

This one’s a local, it’s easy to tell it’s the same one I keep seeing once you recognise it by the unique parking tag hanging off the rearview

If I had one wish this holiday season, it would be for world peace. If I had two wishes, it would be for world peace, and for Connor Bedard to get frustrated and demand a trade out of Chicago.

Merry Christmas to anyone who plays #PokemonTCG online

This year I moved to a relatively small city. Tonight, I went pub-crawling with my cousins and brother-in-law and discovered a bar that is trying very hard to be a Big City Experience and we are having a blast.

Really looking forward to playing the remake of Dragon Quest III this weekend. Aside from Pokemon, this was my biggest time sink game on game boy back in elementary school; it got confiscated for homework-related reasons more than once. Probably the game that led me to GameFAQs for the first time.

I was suspect but it seems like Marvel has covered its tracks on this one.
