You'll be pleased to know that Tightwad Hill is just below Berkeley Lab & NERSC.

And at least two of them.

Probably related to Cal game. Jet was dilly-dallying to the east and then did a pretty straight line near the Cal Stadium

Some sorta fighter jet flew over Berkeley. I didn't see what direction it went, but I think this might be it? Maybe 3 jets.

Berkeley cyclist here- use new Bancroft cycletrack weekly. Wrote to city about westbound light @ Bancroft/Shattuck not detecting bikes. City uses AI system called NoTraffic w/ these cameras & is working on bugs. Will be interesting when it works
🚴‍♀️ I believe these are the cameras.

One oddity in the AI experience is the inconsistency in the experience. Gemini on my phone fails ~20% of the time, claiming it can't do something that is clearly within it's scope.

Today, I tried to set an alarm. Two tries, back to back, two different answers.

Ubuntu users like to make fun of the Blue Screen of Death in Windows. But hey, Ubuntu has it's own White Screen of Death.

I have two identical machines. One Windows 10 & other Ubuntu 24.04. Ubuntu crashes more

Linux on servers: Awesome- I run hundreds of them
Linux on desktop: Not quite as awesome

My fingers typed the Vim exit command into the AI Chatbot window and it acted appropriately.

Wow these two helicopters were flying pretty low over Berkeley. Looks like 500' altitude?

San Jose had to cancel their fireworks & had a drone show instead. Our first drone show. Very cool.

Helicopter over Berkeley are from KTVU Channel 2 due to incident on Curtis Street (near Gilman)

Berkeley police notification about the incident. They closed the street. Sounds like a person in crisis. Give the BPD space & let folks do their job.

What the heck? I'm seeing reports of outages with MS Teams, Cloudflare, Home Depot registers, etc.

Zoom is experiencing a global DNS outage with the zoom.us domain. The Zoom Status page is at status.zoom.us, and ironically is also down at the same time as their primary service-- a reminder to keep your status pages on a separate domain from the main product.

I tried to report a bicycling hazard and it was rejected. There is no Berkeley 311 App for Android. I can't find the appropriate form on the City website.

Helicopter circling over Berkeley. Probably related to this morning's fatal house fire at Cedar & 10th.

The Alameda to Oakland water taxi has these stretchable Velcro straps (LuBanSir Super-stretch-Storage Strap)
to secure bicycles. Easier to use than the clips on SF Bart. Faster to secure, can stretch to accommodate larger bike frames. @sfbart.bsky.social should consider them.
