Where do you go when your soul needs peace? I turn to my yard. From dirt to a wildlife haven, this is what ten years of hard work looks like. I find courage in knowing that other sorts of very hard things could become a thing of beauty if we all work hard enough for it.

The sound of rain after too long of a dry spell feels peaceful and hopeful for the future world.

Take a moment to see the wonder that still surrounds us all. It's good for our souls.

There is good to be seen all around, we just have to want to see it.

When my partner won't decide what dessert he wants for his b-day I make pies. I love pie. Who doesn't love pie? Cinnamon crust apple, blackberry, chocolate peanut butter, lemon cream.

This baby was so cute. He was mad that hundreds of people invaded his space to watch the local parade yesterday morning and repeatedly came out to let us know we shouldn't be there. To the people's defense, it was in the middle of town that surrounds thousands of acres of forests. Sorry buddy.

Living in a rural area means we get lots of wildlife right at our door. These two gentlemen came for breakfast.

See? This was just mowed but now it's all uneven after I straightened it out with my hands. Yes, that's the level of distraction I'm at. So much chaos and awfulness that I'm now combing my lawn.

One wheelbarrow of water a day to try to germinate the wildflower seeds might not be enough in this heat, but I am certainly getting stronger.

This is what we are working with for garden space. We have a deer and bunny problem so the food they like goes in the fenced area. There are lots of native berries all over here, so they get plenty even with us picking that too. Hoping to make more trips to the food bank this year.

We have a new friend. This is a skink, and he apparently lives in my rocks.

I bought this last summer to give our mason bees more options. They seem to love it. Notice which holes have filled up first. Mason bees are super easy to keep on your property. They are shy and will leave you alone.

I have been cleaning up the area around our chicken coop to give them some more outdoor space and accidentally uncovered this sweet bird nest. The momma wasn't thrilled with me, but she is back on it. Sorry birdie.

This is one of my favorite areas we have in our yard. The bees are loving it. The outhouse is a cover for our well.

We have an auction that my husband heads to fund the local high school senior scholarships. I make desserts each year for it. Here are this year's. Pineapple coconut layered cake with brandy and chocolate blackberry cupcakes with chocolate blackberry frosting and individual bottles of rum.

When life gets crazy, I turn to plants. I don't know why. I have lots of indoor and outdoor plants now. Here is one from COVID, it's a lemon tree I started from seed. This year I'm now trying avocado already. We'll see what comes next.

We traveled back in time and took a trip on the Titanic. A moving experience of a micro story that encapsulates the broader human experience traversing life and death within the constraints of hierarchal system further perpetuated by the government.

This is a dog that knows she isn't supposed be on the bed but doesn't care as she sleeps the Sunday afternoon away. Sleepy Mia doesn't listen very well.
