Canadians deserve and expect an open, transparent and accountable government that delivers services and policies informed by evidence and science, not nonsense and conspiracy. The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) should break ties with the American Medical Association (AMA).
Florida just equated childhood vaccination with slavery.

The CMA’s response? Linking arms with the AMA—an institution that looked away as disinformation captured U.S. medicine.

Solidarity isn’t policy. Canada needs independence, not borrowed outrage.

Why the CMA Must Break with the AMA
If the CMA follows AMA’s lead, it is only a matter of time before convoy-aligned doctors in Canada are positioned as “experts” inside Ottawa.

BC healthcare can’t routinely expect heroics to deliver care & manage service. We need fewer execs & managers, ones with fresh ideas, & who are empowered & accountable for service.
If this was hockey, our team has great players but needs a better coach.

🇨🇦 It’s not a tech problem. We need to address health info stewardship roles & resps (esp data ownership) before implementing technology. Patients should own their medical info & authorise its use (e.g. role-based access). Not tech companies.

While we wait (& pay) for the #bchealth review to find admin savings, the opportunity to lean out the exec suite and consolidate health authorities to save money and improve service seems obvious 🤷🏼‍♂️

Lower pressure on Emergency Depts:
- Enhance 911 to coord on scene emerg care, not just dispatch
- Transfer custody of primary care medical records fr physicians to govt agency &
- 🇨🇦 std EMR
so EMS & Emerg Docs access medical history in pt’s EMR

Aviation requires a high level of teamwork and communication. While participants speak many languages in a global system, there’s only one language of aviation. English.
Why not one EMR for primary care medical records, federally licensed and provincially administered?

Govt can ensure Canadians control their medical info & enable team care:
1️⃣ Fed legislation on patient’s data rights
2️⃣ National std EMR hosted in 🇨🇦, subject to 🇨🇦 law
3️⃣ Govt custodians of primary care medical records, not doctors

Fed govt could
✅ protect 🇨🇦 med info
⬇️ cost
⬇️ admin burden
⬆️ health research
⬆️ healthcare svcs
by
✅ standardising & licensing
- one EMR for primary care
- one EHR for acute care
✅ requiring vendors to locate apps & data in 🇨🇦 data centres.

Objective of BC healthcare review should be to improve healthcare (which includes efficiency), not just reduce admin costs.

Data interoperability among primary care EMRs won’t really help. One EMR federally licensed & provincially administered:
⬇️ admin burden
⬆️ team-based care (primary, acute)
⬇️ cost
⬆️ privacy
Faster Better Cheaper

The problem with 🇨🇦 healthcare is mostly service delivery (provincial), not funding (federal). Fed govt could select and provide a std EMR (primary care) & a std EHR (acute care) to fix data interop, ⬇️ cost, ⬇️ admin burden & ⬆️ privacy.

BC should review all Health Authorities at once, not sequentially. We don’t need 6. One HA would lower cost, improve patient outcomes, and steward healthcare information.

Review of BC Healthcare System
- Gated project? ✅
- Staffing freeze limited to exec, admin & support ✅
- Sequential review of each Health Authority ❌
Review all HAs. One HA would lower cost and deliver better team-based care.

The business model (roles and responsibilities) for managing health information is obsolete and broken. Interoperability is an expensive and complex band aid.
