The Tories dominate the House of Lords and are blocking a lot of Labour’s legislation.They are not going to vote for their own demise, or even for the reform of the upper chamber any time soon. The extra Labour peers is an attempt to address this.

I think they are making improvements, but they are so bad at comms that hardly anyone knows. I wish they would be so much bolder, but their managerial style won’t allow it.

They are struggling to get legislation through the Tory dominated House of Lords, so this is a pragmatic concession in return for the majority of their measures becoming law.

Can't seem to find any mention of it on the Sky News ap, whereas the BBC do mention it, but choose to focus on the rise of migrant numbers in hotels. Perhaps they would be happier if the migrants were in tents somewhere out of sight?
