If interested the sentence was along the lines of “Virus y was discovered in year x [before viruses were discovered, half a century before the actual year]. The virus has z ORFs. [proceeds to talk about ORFs].”

Academically... For me... Everything else is still pretty dire

Let me spell it out:
A) H "are animals": IL says this and thus thinks H does not care about the people. So IL has deliberately doomed civilians.
B) IL relies on H to take the moral high ground. Basically admitting they're worse than a terrorist organisation.
