The study section that I have reviewed for since 2012, and was a permanent member of for multiple terms, just finished our last review meeting. It was housed under NINDS, and is moving to CSR. Fingers crossed that the amazing staff who have made the magic happen for all these years move with it.

I never thought of participating in study section as an act of resistance, until now. Proud to do my part to help further science. @altnih4science.bsky.social

Saw this little bird sitting on the sidewalk. Snapped the photo just before it flew away (and scared the crap out of me). Think it’s a Wilson’s snipe.

Today is International Women’s Day. You know what I’d like for International Women’s Day? Not to have to have an International Women’s Day. And if you don’t understand what I mean by that, you’re part of the reason we need an International Women’s Day.

The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

Missouri punches above its weight in having outstanding scholars researching and producing life saving cures. I encourage all in our federal delegation work to ensure Missouri orgs can keep employing those who do vital work to save lives in our country and around the world.
