United Healthcare is threatening to make Johns Hopkins out of network on August 25, 2025, and for some reason this is not being covered by any news? Both UH and JH have released statements on the "negotiations" holding up the contract renewal. Let's just say one seems more plausible than the other.

Absurd! I'm sorry you're dealing with this!

Also, hope you don't use the Johns Hopkins network because United Healthcare may change Hopkins to "out of network" prices in a few weeks because Hopkins is pushing back on things like this nonsense they're putting you through.

Per its website, United Healthcare is claiming that they will allow "continuity of care" for ongoing treatment, but given their track record, I can only assume it will be annoyingly difficult to apply for and get approved. Seems more likely just another way to deny coverage and make people pay more

I came on bsky to search for some buzz on this issue because I couldn't find a single news article about it. Yours is the only post I found so I thought I'd chime in, too.

I chose my health insurance specifically because all my doctors at Johns Hopkins are in network, and suddenly making me pay out of network rates would be a drastic change that I could not have possibly anticipated when selecting my plan with United Healthcare. Looking forward to the class action

Jackson's dissent:
"But that temporary, practical, harm-reducing preservation of the status quo was no match for this Court's demonstrated enthusiasm for greenlighting this President's legally dubious actions in an emergency posture."

Great turnout in Baltimore! This was early on when the crowd was still growing

United Healthcare Insurance tried (and recently lost) to get the US Government to reimburse $3.8 million it paid for a pre-authorized heart transplant surgery.

It is so wild and sleazy to base a whole company/industry on trying to get out of paying for services after agreeing to pay for them.

THIS! Especially when they are referencing news or some other post but then don't provide a link to the underlying article/post and it is unnecessarily annoying trying to fact check.

DOGE should not be given access to anything, they have proven to give that access immediately to malign foreign actors
"In fact, in the minutes after DOGE accessed the NLRB's systems, someone with an IP address in Russia started trying to log in ... Whoever was attempting to log in was using one of the newly created DOGE accounts — and the person had the correct username and password"
5 takeaways about NPR's reporting on the whistleblower report about DOGE at the NLRB
Here's a summary of NPR's findings about the report that a whistleblower filed to Congress about how DOGE violated security protocols and could have removed sensitive labor data.

Unions protect workers. Federal unions help ensure civil servants can provide services to the public. If you don't think public services will suffer if there isn't anyone pushing back against their illegal and immoral workplace actions, you haven't been paying attention.
