Trust me, it has nothing to do with age. Even when I was a kid, resolution was never really a factor I was that interested in. I enjoyed it when it improved but eventually I stopped noticing the improvement.

My first memories of Doctor Who was this fuzzy memory of a battle between the Daleks and the Cybermen in a room filled with smoke. In retrospect it was clearly an exaggerated memory of Doomsday. Then I watched Smith and Jones, and started buying Classic Stories like Spearhead from Space.

It's the sad irony of all this.
You stay because you don't want to lose the people you're connected to and there's a good chance that's what makes them reluctant to leave themselves.

Plus, even if that happens it would be one of the biggest attacks to his ego he could ever concieve. It's worthy trying even for that.
