Years ago I learned about Bayard Rustin & all he did for the people as an openly gay Black man during Jim Crow, the Civil Rights Movement, &c. He said, “The only weapon we have is our bodies, and we need to tuck them in places so wheels don’t turn.” I vowed then & now to put my body in the cogs.

Sometimes I rewatch episodes of Star Trek from 30+ years ago that remind me that at our core, humanity is a hopeful species that can imagine (and one day attain) a loving, kind future where all are taken care of (DS9 s3e24 “Shakaar”)
