Unironic un-jokey recommendation: if you like the fun artistry and the "we know you know it's a soundstage" vibe of watching Wizard of Oz, I highly recommend the Japanese anthology horror movie Kwaidan (1964). They do some amazing things with soundstage wall painting.

I hate these. I hate these socks so much. I obliged myself to make them to work thru my stash before buying more yarn. The colors looked so pretty in the ball but they’re so hideous worked up. Lmao. Stupid ugly socks. God will punish them for existing.

Patons kroy in Mexicala Stripes

I have several other pairs, but I don’t feel like hunting them all down. If you’ve ever run into me at a convention, I’m almost certainly behind my table knitting as I talk to customers. It’s a nice way to help me focus! There’s an inverse relationship btwn earnings and sock progress lol

These are the result of 5 years of building skill. Little tweaks (extra sts for calf room, etc) make these a fantastic wearing pair.

Yarn is small batch from Purl’s, the LYS in Asheville nc. Only complaint is my sweat makes the dye run ever so slightly on the soles. Lovely drape and feel though.

Patons Kroy in celestial colors. Note how the two balls were different dye lots (apparently a big problem with patons). Back then my patience was very obviously short, much like the cuffs on this pair. Somehow these socks feel dusty every time I wear them, despite washing them thoroughly…

West Yorkshire spinners in “Fairy Lights”. These were my favorite pair for a long while. But the heels are a little felted due to the foot being slightly too short. They’re comfy so I don’t plan to fix them. But I might get the same yarn and make a copy when these get too worn.
