Being an American trying to exist among developed world nations is like trying to do the Tour de France on one of these.

A big shout out to Club Raven in Sacramento and a certain UC Davis professor who also used to frequent that place.

If these people's loyalty was the only thing preventing me from dying of old age in solitary confinement, I would treat them a bit more nicely.

In case you ever wondered why California is such a laggard despite its grand progressive vision of itself, you should spend some time with its political class.

There is a great essay to be written telling the story of American enshittification through the decline of hotel breakfast.

For instance, this was the cheaper option ($19) over the buffet ($28.)

I am also for Democrats getting off their asses and engaging in the media world as it is. If they did a better job with that, I might've been spared teaching my mom how to respond if she's ever stopped by ICE.

Imagining Trump is finally removed from the White House under DC law because sex offenders cannot live within 2,000 feet of a school.

I think Republican Senators will only vote for this if they sense they're going to get a primary challenger in 2026. But there are quite a few facing reelection so it's not impossible!

@ezrakleinbot.bsky.social derangement syndrome can be cured simply by reading the rest of the column.

Also if you follow an elected official on Instagram, you'll see that they're constantly at the lamest events imaginable. Like everyone is wearing these shoes and you have to listen to 30 speeches about how meaningful some old guy at the Chamber of Commerce is.

Fascism is ascendant across the globe, a violent White supremacist movement is gaining power in the US and measles outbreaks are putting people at risk.

But unlike the 1930s, instead of cool Art Deco buildings, we have this:

"I'm opening the most talked about mall in Canton, Ohio. Why won't Zohran Mamdani give me a freaking phone call!"

"Habibi, it is tragic that my Pakistani maid had her passport taken from her and has not been paid in months. Yet we must remember that we all exist in an unjust capitalist system under which there is no such thing as ethical consumption."

Say what you will about Ross Douthat (no really say it) but I do appreciate that he brings people onto his podcast that are **actually influential** to American conservatism. The GOP in 2025 is a woman who thinks Apartheid was good for South Africa and that White Flight was caused by Black violence.

Someone ought to ask this remedial reading Nazi Party why Southern and Midwestern Whites have such 3rd World outcomes in basic tasks like "staying alive past age 75." Asians and Latinos seem to have no problem with this!

I regret to inform you that hoes are mad.
November 5, 2025 at 4:10 AM
Especially given how well Trump did in 2024 with Asians and Latinos in NYC, I feel like the Democratic Party should be really psyched about a person who might reverse that.

Can you imagine what America would look like with majority rule?
