I agree. But when you look at the 2024 GABF medalists you could get the idea that the judges are taking a narrower view.

Hops from 4 decades in latest Liquid Mechanics West Coast Cartel, a collaboration with Burgeon. A read-through beer (looks darker because of can in background). From youngest to oldest: Krush, Mosaic, Simcoe and Chinook. Chinook, 40 years after she was released, ties it all together.
