It's peak. A sort of puzzle/action platformer where you play a thief in a drill mech suit. Lots of fun gimmicks, writing, and puzzles.
God bless the final upgrade music being such a banger that I don't mind hearing it for half of every single stage in the entire game.

And you can't bring up Yggdra Union without bringing up this one. A turn-based RPG cut from the same genre-defying cloth as Yggdra Union, it's also got a somewhat point-and-click adventure dungeon navigation and unique level up system. Also cute dating sim elements.

Speaking of tactics games, here's one that just has a ton of absurd mechanical complexity to it. Attack ranges, the health system, the card system, how movement works, there's basically nothing here by-the-books in a tactics game, and I love it for that.

Slightly less well known, an action RPG duology where you play as a blacksmith that crafts his own weapons to fight with. They break, so you have to take care of them or deal no damage with your blacksmith hammer
I remember liking a lot of the character designs

Love this game. First game I played in the series, probably a half-mistake given how little of the plot I understood, but also it's just so much more fun than starting from 1.
Love the aesthetics and vibes of this series, and it's so much fun, too!

The oddest way for me to get into this franchise, but here it is. I don't remember much about the actual gameplay beyond it feeling like a pretty barebones tactics game. But characters having a set turn order definitely gave it something unique.

While I had played V before on the PSX, this was the version that got me to love this game.
And with its very fun job system for building a unique party, excellent script, and all around good time vibes it's hard to hate V. Definitely one of my favorite in the series.

This is the only Metroid game I ever beat, and also the one that more or less solidified my dislike of the Metroid series as a whole, lol.
The exploration vibes just never did much for me (even worse with new open world games), and even a more linear one couldn't overcome it.

Definitely one of the more interesting series to get created, as the concept of playing a lot of super fast, simple games was pretty different even compared to games with lots of minigames.
But that think fast on your feet charm definitely made me love it.

This one's a weird game. Imagine an RPG, but the random encounters are shmup fights. Also featuring a complex political narrative that I didn't understand much of as a kid. God bless me starting to actually understand and pay attention to stories shortly after this era.

Many fond memories of this game as a kid. One of the most narratively complex games I played at that age, and didn't understand like. Half of it. The gameplay is braindead, and god I wish I had the means of advancing through text more quickly. Maybe I'd play it again if I could.

Definitely only played this due to DBZ airing on TV at the same time as a kid. It's... a pretty ho hum action game that I hear the sequels I never played improved upon.
Definitely a fun rompy kind of game kid me played like 5 times to completion.

Boy am I glad this was the first Castlevania game I played as a kid who didn't know any better so it was all uphill from there.
The level design is horrific, which is a shame given a lot of other things are pretty cool about this game. But whew. It's bad.

Another game I never finished cause I got lost like, 2 chapters before the end.
I found the concept of like, Resident Evil but it's actually a turn-based RPG fascinating, and I kinda wish there was another game like it, given both of the sequels changed up everything.

Another 3D collectathon to round out the PSX games, this one's moderately better than Toy Story 2. Still looks and controls kinda bad, but leagues better in comparison. I got 100% in this game several times as a kid. Also has some decently inventive movement.

Hilariously probably one of the very few licensed games to stick with me, this was a 3D Collectathon and uh. It's kinda bad now for sure lol.
Kid me was definitely more impressed with it than I would be as an adult, at the very least. Controls kinda poorly and looks... bad.

Does this count as a game? In any case it's definitely something that basically spelled the end for me. I actually made half of a game on this one, before my memory card would get filled up to full and couldn't add anymore.
Then I got ahold of RM2k/3 and my days were numbered.

Never played the first game in the series, but I always liked the odd mission structure this game provided. Like a good number of games on this list, I could never beat it as a kid and it kinda makes me want to go back and try when the re-release happens.

I don't think I gotta say much about this one given its relative popularity lol. But I definitely enjoyed the aesthetics of the game, even if the dungeons were definitely very samey, literally so by the end of the game.
Do wish it got a third game, of course.

An Atlus SRPG. This one was unique to me because the units you select aren't the main fighters, instead they summon creatures to do the rock/paper/scissors for you alongside fighting.
That and the terrain destructability and some writing made this game stick with me.
