How did your favorite tech company do on their report card looking at actions it’s taken to decarbonize?

Unless it rhymes with schmapple, the answer is bad.

Like, really bad.

And if you’re free Tuesday morning, @womentcities.bsky.social is organizing a change-in at City Hall from 9-10:30am, in protest of removing changing tables from public bathrooms (amongst all the other 💩-y things in this budget).

We’re just going to say it: this Vancouver community is AMAZING.

When we found out about Mayor Sim’s austerity budget and sneaky plan to pass it, we weren’t sure we could respond effectively in time.

Turns out, we didn’t need to worry. 🧵

On Tuesday, communities rose up in a province wide day of action led by grassroots groups to put @davidebybc.bsky.social, @rparmarbc.bsky.social, BCNDP, the Ministry of Forests and BC Timber Sales (BCTS) back in the spotlight for their continued broken promises to protect old growth forests. 🧵 🌲

Indigenous Guards in Ecuador are facing growing criminalization for protecting their territories and their peoples.

This violates the collective rights of Indigenous Peoples to defend their lands, their cultures and their lives.

‼️ Exciting update ‼️ There are now more than 20,000 Prime members calling for a cleaner Amazon! 🤯

Last week, we had the first mobilizing call and it was so inspiring to hear why they care about Amazon’s impact on climate communities.

Climate change is here, making extreme weather more and more common.

Toronto has a chance to make its buildings safer to protect communities from heat, wildfire smoke, and more.

That’s… a lot of water.

As a society, we need to have a real conversation about if this is how we want to spend our finite resources – especially as water gets scarcer due to our warming climate.

This could include lifting a 50 year-old oil tanker ban which protects marine life. Alberta’s oil industry doesn't understand that "no" means "no" and is determined to bulldoze environmental policies attempting to address its reckless climate pollution...

Canada’s climate hypocrisy was front and centre at #COP30 today.

Both on the front page of the daily Eco newsletter in the morning and later in the day when Canada had the dishonour of being named Fossil of the Day — an "achievement" not awarded to Canada at COP in over a decade.

Despite promises to protect some of the world’s rarest ecosystems, British Columbia’s Premier @David Eby continues to sign off on logging old growth in BC for bioenergy, sending entire trees to be turned into fuel.

🔥🌲 The truth about Drax turning old growth forests into wood pellets and burning them for electricity is out.

Stand.earth Research Group has traced timber marks directly from fresh old growth clearcuts to Drax’s pellet mills. 🤯

Mayor Sim and his allies thought they could sneak through an austerity budget that would gut climate, arts and other crucial programs, but Vancouver residents proved him wrong with thousands of letters and historic turnout to speak in person on the issue. 🔥

Yes, you read that right: 1 in every 25 attendees at #COP30 is a fossil fuel lobbyist. 🤢

Meanwhile, Indigenous Peoples still have limited access to decision-making at the UN climate talks – even though their leadership is critical to achieving a #JustTransition to a climate-safe future.
November 18, 2025 at 3:36 PM
There was powerful Indigenous leadership in the living territories bloc at the front of the march, followed by those marching for a #JustTransition - including the incredible Brazilian labour movement - and finally an international solidarity block.

Reflections from the #PeoplesMarch at #COP30 this past weekend:

After several years of COPs held in countries where protest is outlawed or severely curtailed, it felt amazing to be in a crowd of 70,000 other people marching for climate justice.

Imagine an Amazon rainforest completely free from extraction and exploitation, where Indigenous Peoples lead with ancestral knowledge and their rights and sovereignty are fully respected.
November 17, 2025 at 8:36 PM
🌱As #COP30 unfolds in Belém, Brazil, we’re breaking down how the Amazon could look like as an #ExclusionZone from all forms of extractivism.

Big Tobacco no longer has a seat at the table at the World Health Organization. So, why should #BigOil have a say at #COP30?

It’s time to change the UNFCCC process so profit-driven polluters don’t continue to derail critical climate policy.
