If I pay with a credit card, the clerk can steal my banking details from that just as easily as they could from a check. Easier, perhaps, with a concealed skimming device. And nobody's address is secret anymore, we live in the age of databases.

His political persona is "I'm incredibly rich so I should be your leader", so that attack won't land. His whole deal is that he has a chauffeur limousine. Many politicians pretend to be "just ordinary folk" but that was never Trump's thing.

Contrary to fiction, judges don't detail trials over every venial sin by the lawyers. There will be no punishment other than the tongue-lashing that the article described.

The really well-paid finance jobs *also* have insane working hours.

It was a whole thing recently when some investment banks started setting rules that junior associates had to have at least one entire day off every other week… unless they were working on a deal. Which they almost always are.

It's boiling a frog. Replacing one member of the Fed doesn't make that much difference, so the market will shrug. "Stock market investors only think about the short term" has been a common complaint for my entire lifetime, and I'm not young.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm not a lawyer but engineers (and doctors) not infrequently think that they understand my job better than I do. (They are invariably incorrect.)

A web comic I enjoy posted something similar about Scott Adams (the Dilbert guy) recently, that he'd always be grateful for Adams giving him a big positive review when he was starting. Complicated feelings when someone famous endorsed you and got you started, then later you learn unpleasant things.

It's legalese for "If you violate this, I expect your immediate CO to issue non-judicial punishment". (That's not slang, it's basically the last step before a court-martial).
