how did i go so long not knowing we were literally teaching people to read wrong. i knew something wasn't right but jesus christ www.apmreports.org/episode/2019...
How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...

You see, that's the kind of detail ruins the whole thing

That's Brexit, that's not about this Trump kerfuffle.

It was Brexit that taught me how limp and wet and watery the BBC can be. How idle of thought, how void of conviction, and how absent of will.

But then the media should have questioned where parliament did not. The BBC kept interviewing loudmouth idiots.
They should have thrown it back in parliament's face and refused to broadcast anything until Cameron declared his intentions on record.

I think I've been over this, and still it bites. Parliament should never have allowed Cameron his referendum until he made adequate provision for its result.

But our parliament is so weak it's just six hundred sleeping policemen. Never demands anything.

Ah, but in what particular way? A point that was never addressed.

No government should ever hold a referendum unless and until it wishes to enact the result.

The BBC got all excited about the referendum without ever interrogating that point.

No Tory prime minister this century has managed to win a majority and complete a full term.
John Major was the last, 1992-97

Out of the five prime ministers the Tories have had this century, not one of them has even been able to do that

Cameron was the last prime minister to complete a term, and that was in coalition. Then

Cameron won a majority, lost a referendum and resigned

May lost Cameron's majority, failed to finish Brexit and resigned

Johnson won a big majority, but resigned for misbehaviour

Truss crashed

Sunak lost

And if it does turn out like that, and I hope it does for mischief if nothing else, that would continue the unbroken record of every prime minister since the Brexit referendum failing to complete a term.
