And it won’t just be the plan for Coldsprings that will be completely changed. It will be very difficult to direct growth anywhere but near that station. All of our current plans will be impacted. The location of the station is likely the biggest planning decision for the City in the next 50 years.

If the station goes here there will be immense pressure to develop nearby. People will want to live near the station and low density won’t meet that demand. I wish we would at least try to put the station downtown to direct that growth into instead of adjacent to the city.

If this were a hockey game I’d be shouting ‘shoot the puck!’

I couldn’t agree more Ann and you are right. It’s definitely not an issue exclusive to Peterborough.

To avoid the kind of flood that happened in 2004 (because of that buried creek) the city built an underground flood way and on top of it the built a pretty great bike street. It’s not well connected yet but the potential is there.

Peterborough’s first bicycle-priority street a hit with cyclists
Bethune Street from McDonnel to Townsend has been rebuilt to prioritize cyclists, and it's getting rave reviews from bike riders.

Imagine a 100m race where we’ve given cars an 80m head start after many decades of building almost ONLY for them. If we then set a transportation goal of “balance” between many more choices in getting around, by definition we have to prioritize the new choices for a while, or they’ll never catch up.

The rink in St Catherine’s is connected to downtown by pedestrian bridges but I think its proximity to the highway is probably the main reason for its location. I would encourage #ptbo City Councillors to visit Guelph, Kingston and London whose rinks are much better integrated into their downtowns.

And Edmonton can’t keep the puck in Florida’s end. It’s constantly one and done almost every time. #nhl #stanleycupfinal

Yes, and then we can walk freely across the border with Denmark on Hans Island.
