Stabby Duck
@stabbyduck613.bsky.social
One of the world's most dangerous baby ducks. Law talking guy and skier. Feed an incoherent mix of NU sports, the Utah Mammoth, and politics.
I am a civil litigator, and even I would have known not to do this

blocked and reported you have no right to confront me with the truth like this
November 19, 2025 at 1:38 PM
Yup, Altman is terrible, but this exchange is not why
November 19, 2025 at 1:17 PM
An easy example here is Belichick vs. a 73-year old who assaulted another 73-year old. The second person should be in jail, we roll our eyes at Bill and get on with our day.

I have no stake in age gap discourse, if you think finding someone much younger than you hot is gross or normal or some secret third thing I think that's great for you, I am just saying that the moral problem here is the assault.
November 17, 2025 at 1:49 AM
I know, it's terrible!! I gotta try to persuade you some day on this one, though
November 17, 2025 at 1:15 AM
I suspect I'm going to post some version of "I know this sounds weird, but no one has any idea what this electorate is going to be like" at least 2x a day until the primary
November 17, 2025 at 12:46 AM
Right, but that was because of the 5 turnovers, not bc our offense did particularly well. We averaged 4.6 YPP, had 245 yards, and went 2/12 on 3rd down. That is extremely bad.
November 15, 2025 at 9:50 PM
I don't mean to give you too hard of a time; there are a ton of advantages to always seeing the bright side of things : )
November 15, 2025 at 9:41 PM
What set me off is that I said we were bad, and you responded "no we're not." The question of what it means in terms of trajectory to go from 126 to 106 is different; I don't see that exactly the same way you do either, but I get the argument
November 15, 2025 at 9:32 PM
I'm 100% pleasantly surprised by this season!! But for me there's a big difference between "look on the bright side, this season is so much better than we expected" and "nah man, our offense isn't bad, we put up 22 against Michigan"
November 15, 2025 at 9:19 PM
This is what I mean. I am genuinely glad you always see the upside for yourself.
But, e.g., we are the 106th scoring offense. Saying "that's better than last year" is a true statement, but it's not responsive if the question is "do we have an offense that is even okay?"
November 15, 2025 at 9:16 PM
Minnesota is the more plausible path, I think. Only slightly better than us whether you're thinking stats or eye test. Whereas with Illinois we're really counting on the rivalry game effect
November 15, 2025 at 9:10 PM
I think unfortunately the answer is QB
November 15, 2025 at 9:02 PM
"We scored 22 points off of 5 turnovers" is not making the point you think man. I am not trying to say you can't always be happy with our team--you are, and I think that's amazing--but this is bordering on toxic positivity
November 15, 2025 at 9:01 PM
There's just no fix for "not having an offense."
November 15, 2025 at 8:49 PM
Have been watching on a plane. Everyone thinks I'm insane (which is accurate, I suppose). Man, I really thought we had it when we got the 4th down stop.
November 15, 2025 at 8:48 PM
I think you're right, but it's frustrating because to me it shows the difference between people who want to fight just to fight and people who want fight to win. It was the right call!
November 13, 2025 at 8:07 PM
ton of current UT Dems voted McCain and Romney and wish they could do so again, a ton are to the left of your average portland socialist, and as far as i know we don't have a good sense of the relative size of either "ton" right now
November 12, 2025 at 3:54 AM
yup. his entire arc makes sense as "guy with conservative policy preferences who believes in democracy above nearly everything else"
