weird fiction fans, check out this raffle mike is doing! You could win all his beautiful original art for this book along with the last remaining copy!
I’m raffling this original art from Scott Nicolay’s long out of print novella ‘after’ as a fundraiser for the Sameer Project in Gaza. @dimshores.bsky.social also donated their very last copy of the novella!

today!!

it's so important to also support workshops4sudan in this moment. as recent reporting shows, the zionist states are contemplating forcibly removing Palestinians to Sudan, whose people are undergoing the world’s largest displacement and humanitarian crisis.

I’m basically nobody in the world of Magic the Gathering artists but I would encourage others to say no to invitations to participate in Tabletop ME in Dubai given the call from Sudanese activists to boycott the UAE.

I also love all 3 stories and I def recommend checking out the Tiptree and St. Clair ones if you’re not familiar
I just reread Harlan Ellison’s I Have No Mouth But I must Scream. 2 other apt, prescient & overlooked sci-fi stories that also grapple with the tech hellscape we find ourselves in: James Tiptree’s The Girl Who Was Plugged In & Margaret St. Clair’s Wryneck, Draw Me

“They saw a blob of something growing on the pavement. They saw it emerge into the light; shapeless & jelly-green. There was a surge, a shrinking & its shapelessness contracted into limbs, a head, feet. The thing pushed itself to its knees & then stood straight.”

This is a new account for the series of punk, post-punk, goth, garage rock, dbeat, crust etc fundraisers for Palestinian mutual aid that started with "No Genocide" in February 2024. So far we have raised almost $23,000.

the comps can be found at thedissidents.bandcamp.com

I dunno, this app feels just as much like gibbering down into a bottomless void as any of the others do to me.

Why does Tor do this? Not only is this a stock image but it’s ugly and meaningless with nothing design that says nothing for a major author for a hardcover book that is expensive.

Does anyone have any advice on how you could look up the name of a professor you had over 20 years ago? Can you contact a university and just uh ask who was teaching the course then or is it in your transcript or something? I don’t know anything about college, I just went there and left

I got to see a few of these in person by chance when I went to Gillette Castle in CT to see a couple of Pamela Colman Smith originals they have on display (she was Gillette’s distant cousin or something & painted the covers for some of his play handbills). He was a big fan of cats too apparently.
