Tight, sometimes lyrical writing makes this middle grades book light enough for its heavy topic to not overwhelm its reader. It is not a happy fun read but it is a good one.

This is book two of the series. This time, the protagonist is the mouse from the first book. As with the first book, there are lovable and flawed dogs and caring people. No dogs die

I enjoyed this teen coming-of-age fantasy more than I thought I would. I appreciated the confusion and indecision the two leads experienced. I was riveted during the battle scene, which is rare for me. Book two is due out in late January

These are light and fun. The mystery is cosy. The character growth and developing friendships are satisfying. I appreciate that the character with dementia is cherished and her opinions are honored. The audiobook reader is excellent.

I am getting better at using my darning loom. I could have darned them the traditional way but this wool yarn doesn’t have any nylon for strength. I am hoping the woven darn will be stronger.

Our surprisingly long fall ended today with snow and falling temperatures. The coneflowers in my office garden were an appreciated counterpoint.

The patron who accidentally tore this page should get a gold star for their attempts at repairing it. They used medical tape and rewrote all the missing words.

Part of my library job is checking the condition of returned books. This book came back in good shape and with bonus artwork. 😉

I enjoyed this historical fiction novel set in 2008 on the south side of Chicago during Obama's campaign. The author worked in older historical events and people. I especially enjoyed how the protagonist grew as a person and a community member as he worked for his neighbors to pay off a debt.

Lousy photos showing what I saw when I arrived home from work. Two cats are filling the entire windowsill. It is our only sunny windowsill. There isn't even room for the third cat.

On warm days, the primary kids eat their snacks outside and create chalk art. We must have some Mo Willems fans in that group.

This is how we spent the day after the election. I wish everyone had the love of a good dog to get them through the day.
