I doubt Quinn gives two shits about labor, but once he involved them, it made opposing his version of the bill politically impossible. There was nothing Lawson or any of the pro-housing alders could do without risking their careers.

Why do you think Lawson compromised with Quinn? Quinn outmaneuvered him by bringing the unions into it.

The alders here bend over backwards to appear pro-union, even for regressive policies like adding an apprenticeship requirement for ADUs.

The biggest problem with the station is the abysmal reliability of the 50. Makes getting off at Damen basically nonviable for getting anywhere to the north.
