Shah Rukh’s body language work in this film is honestly underrated- it’s probably among the best ever by anyone in Hindi films. The climax is powerful, her world and everything she thought was real gets shaken up in a go. Quite a moment!

Speaking of muscles: people stupidly criticise the ‘why doesn’t she recognise her husband’ thing. While literally nowhere have I read any remarks on Suri, home bound, office bound, sedentary life, possessing such an impressive set of muscles 💪

pavilion. He suddenly has a confident walk bc he has taken this big risk, this gamble, and is no longer afraid of the outcome: what happens, happens. No expectations, only love. And Taani ‘sees’ him. And all those tiny Raj & Suri moments add up to a feeling she unconsciously recognises.

For me that’s believable: she has completely shut her emotions (and eyes) to anything Suri related. But she also doesn’t really ‘see’ Raj except as a fun friend and a possible escape. Not sensually I think.

She will never notice him in Suri mode. What blinds her is how the marriage came about. In fact she doesn’t even notice him in Raj mode: that lovely scene where Suri comes to breakfast with a swagger, rolling up his sleeves, only for her to completely ignore him—his deflation 🥲

to be a listener more than someone who does all kinds of stunts. Raj grows up to become a mature companion and Suri discovers his youthful, funny, filmi lover side. Which is why they can merge at the end. And have that lovely honeymoon ❤️🔥
