Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Just curious. At the $1,000,000 per plate dinner at Mar-A-Lago this Friday, will the menu be All-American? Or will the cooks use exotic imported foreign foods? Can public officials put the dinner on their expense accounts? What about flights and hotels and limos? Please set good examples for us.

Before the tariffs went into effect I stocked up on instant coffee. Why didn't I stock up on olive oil too? Have you seen those prices now?

I have heard nothing about the return of stolen Ukrainian children to their parents. Their kidnapping was a war crime, and it must be recognized and corrected to the extent possible. How can Ukraine accept any deal that leaves out the children?

It confounds me that a wealthy president elected by a majority, who has 5 children & 10 grandchildren, is focused only on 1) playing golf, 2) redecorating, and 3) eradicating civil rights and democracy here & abroad. His name will be cursed for generations where it could have been praised. -Reposted

Postpone discussion of the big bill. Articles of impeachment should be filed in both houses. The president has preempted congress's authority to commit war, he has authorized federal detention and deportation of people with legal status, & he is clearly not mentally fit. Free him to play golf.

I suppose many people will buy imported goods this week that are still priced pre-tariff, like coffee or basic t-shirts & jeans or dried fish & spices. The US does not produce those things. The larger tariff impact will hit next month. Buying (demand) will fall. GDP measured by demand will too.
