Great news! The shift registers can drive the display!

The bad news: melted breadboard and maybe burnt out a MOSFET. I'm guessing I need to adjust the shift registers to NOT be "on".
Also accidentally killed the arduino.

Next: create a circuit diagram to have bigger brains tell me how to fix it.

Got the shift registers wired. The white and blue leds are inverse.

Next step: update the code slightly (to stop the flashing) and make it work for the flipdot panel.
After that: plug in the shift register outputs to their respective spots (the 5 yellow leds will control the 5 cols/rows).
