I'd like to see more focus on northern development, but this is a start, I guess.

No one runs for office, wins their seat and retires a few months later. There is more to this story we may never know, but the story coming out of Nova Scotia lends some hints. The CPC is not taking PP holding onto leadership after losing the election very well

I got mine the week before they put in the restrictions. My next one will be done in BC, and BC can send AB the bill. I refuse to give this government any more money for what I already pay for in taxes.

And again... NO we do not want to be a 51st state. Don't argue for a lie, because you think it will garner sympathy or provide entertainment value. Objectively Albertans overwhelmingly reject any proposal that Alberta join the United States. That's simply not true. Saying it hurts us. Don't hurt us.

Yes your own cause. I assume you want the UCP defeated, right?
If we were in the US we would be more left leaning, more progressive, and more democratic than every other state in the Union... Even Hawaii would be more conservative than Alberta.
Don't believe the hype.

Don't hurt your own cause by perpetuating stereotypes which helps the conservatives sell themselves as some necessary conclusion of a manifest destiny. You literally are marketing their attacks on your rights as justified and inevitable. If you actually believed that nonsense, you'd move.

Yes I will back them all up. What do you want? We can read the entirety of law in CANLIB. We can look at statistics about how many people in Alberta die every year from malnutrition (it will be near zero and the few cases are due to domestic situations preventing aid from reaching children).

and the VAST MAJORITY of Albertans want Alberta to stay in Canada. Of the few that want separation only a small percentage of them want to join the US. The vast majority that claim to want separation are bluffing in hopes of getting a handout from the feds.

We DO feed the poor.
Everyone has Healthcare, including dental. Preventative mental health and pharmacare are not included - and they aren't in most countries, and all provinces. We need to work on that.
Our leadership does suck, but perpetuating stereotypes helps them retain power.

It pays off to see st albert as a real city and plan for growth beyond just building houses. You have high growth rates because you are playing catch-up after decades of planning only as a bedroom community.

Edmonton has managed to be the fastest growing city in the country for 50 years and have the most affordable housing in the country and a public transit system that is the envy of similar sized cities in North America... so we are doing something right. How much is a house in any Ontario city?

And who would want to build towers in farm fields? Who would buy them? Should we just not use the land as we wait for demand?
We can't even predict where the market demand will be in 5 years and you wanted people in 1978 to plan for the layout of the city in 2025?

You don't seem to understand how boom and bust towns grow... That Edmonton was and is the fastest growing metro area in Canada and that we outgrow our plans because of market conditions.
So how many gravel parking lots would we have downtown today if in 1978 we built towers in farm fields?

I'm sure 1978 would happily move all their future high density development plans out of downtown and into the outskirts and that demand would magically appear to put high desnity everywhere even though we know with hindsite we lacked the demand to even finish downtown.

that southgate would have an LRT so the mall should be apartment towers, even though southgate wasn't even built yet and there was no plan to build an LRT there at the time. Oh and that the colliseum needs no parking cause no one sees driving as being important in 1978.

OK you should right 1978 a sternly worded letter. ... while you are at it make sure you mention that belvedere station was a park and ride at the edge of town so it should not be... and that downtown was being developed into towers but that development should be at the edge of town

If we actually wanted a democracy we would make majority governments illegal.
Democracy doesn't start and end in a voting booth, and a government that will only govern with their own interests is not a government of the people. A government of the people includes all people.
