Telling you they were, i think we could've had a solid 9-9.5/10 here. As it stands it's a soft 7 for me. Enjoyed it overall, interested to see what they do next, but not blown away by any stretch.

The dialogue chills out, and all the choices that you made throughout become really intricately impactful, in a way i really, really enjoyed. It's a real shame too, because if this game started the way it ended, if it took the time to build the characters into loveable people rather than just

Should people have to push through 30 hours of forced, corny after school special power of friendship dialogue to get to the good bits? Nah. But if they do, that ending really re-contextualizes the rest of the experience, reframing it in a super satisfying way.

And by beginning of the game, i mean like full 25-30 hours. Imo i think that anyone who gets through about thirty hours of this and quits thinking it's a shit game has every right to that opinion, and i can't blame them. But also! You're really missing out because the ending of this game fucks HARD

2. The beginning of this game is ROUGH. All the problems, the dialogue being weird and flat and corny and the lack of meaningful choices/options (everything feels like it leads to the same outcome with a slightly different coat of paint) are way, way worse at the beginning of the game

I think a lot of the reason people were so negative on this is two fold:
1. Expectations on a franchise like this are always gonna make it's reception super swingy. If it hits, you LOVE it, and if it misses it's a heart-wrenching, bitter disappointment that makes it hard to enjoy even the good bits
