We can hope, but lately I feel like it's more "the blind leading the blind." 😮‍💨

At this point, I feel it's not even due to lack of awareness. I don't think people "fall" for it as much as they just simply don't care, or have dismissed warnings as "a bunch of nonsense." Just like a lot of very real warnings about a lot of other, more prevalent topics of late, I've found.

Because it's still the best excuse Elon or any other tech bro can use to slap on a product to justify charging more and then asking for a subscription on top whilst saying it's "the next step forward" and "an evolution in technology as we know it."

Watch it all get swept away and the attention redirected onto more horrors The US will unleash. Just like anything they've done that deserves criticism. Watch the media create more frantic fear on the next atrocity they commit. The sooner they move on, the sooner you forget. Don't forget this.

...people (and/or characters) to me. The fact that I have a little connection to those above in however small the fraction makes me feel like a bigger part of a whole.

So if you read this far, consider who you share a birthday with, as you might find traits you look up to or want to emulate too. 💖

There are also several other people I could name who share my birthday, but I personally don't know enough about them, don't really vibe with them, or don't feel like they should be platformed any more then they already are.

The people above are coincidentally some of the most influential...

Surprisingly enough, according to a 1976 DC calendar. I also share a birthday with Batman's Jim Gordon.

A paragon of what I feel what it means to "be a good guy." James W. "Jim" Gordon Sr. was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger.

I aspire to be like Jim when I'm a little bit older then now.

My favourite birthday twin, Hayao Miyazaki.

Born on January 5th, 1941. Hayao Miyazaki has left a profound impact on the medium of storytelling, manga, anime and animation as a whole.

Known for basically all the Ghibli films you've seen, but also an abundance more.

I still love Princess Mononoke

Next, Clancy Brown.

Born January 5, 1959, Clancy is a fantastic actor, talented voice actor and close to my heart, as he's voiced in several Disney, Marvel and DC projects through my childhood.

Plus the general consensus is that he's a pretty good dude, which from what I've seen, checks out.

Marilyn Manson was born on January 5th, 1969.

Known for being a somewhat jarring presence in rock and metal, Marilyn, for me, has always managed to be unapologetically weird, whilst making sure that the people that dislike him always seem a bit abrased by him.

Which is inspiring for me.

Ultimately, I have no single game to suggest. I live and breathe games. I have some other very minor hobbies (such as working my real job for real money to get real food) but the "one game you need to try" is the one that moved you to sharing it with as many people you possibly ever can.

Besides the shades of "copy paste" and now "AI heavy games" (Cod, 2K). I would argue most games are art and that it is your duty as a human to at least acknowledge art. You don't need to like it, agree with it, or pay full attention. But you need to know that it is present. That it is there.
January 3, 2026 at 10:16 AM
Because, like any other expression of an art, only you as a person can make it, or experience or consume it.

Games that are beautiful are art.

Games that grip you emotionally are art.

Games that are just fucking fun are art.

Games that challenge you as a player OR PERSON are art...

Games have evolved so much as a medium that any certain game can be a singular thing anymore is really difficult, as Minecraft is the ultimate sandbox, Skyrim is the fantasy blueprint. But how can you go and ask someone "Hey, make me something exactly like this, but completely different."?
