Retired. Former state bureaucrat, school psychologist and current chicken keeper. Love my two springer spaniels, reading and genealogy.
@chuckwendig.bsky.social I read the Book of Accidents and it scared the crap out of me. I loved it! So I started Black River Orchard. The chapter The Apple delighted me. Two pages of amazing writing. About an Apple. There is truly something special about well crafted words on a page.

there's two things I would have used to frame this instead.

1) the presence and protection of rapists are a symptom of institutional corruption;

2) today's Republican cultural values and authoritarianism largely overlap with common characteristics of sexual abusers

Does anyone else feel like there is no clear leadership of the Democratic Party? I don’t think all of the hand wringing and gnashing of teeth about the election is helping. I would like to know if they have a plan to moderate the actions that Trump and Co will be taking.

I was an observer on “the other platform” and know I won’t emotionally survive the oncoming shit show doom scrolling on that site. I have lots of feelings about the election and what is to come. Let’s talk history, share great fiction recommendations, and admire each others pets!
